How many ZYNs are in a pack or can?

A US can (or pack) of ZYN holds 15 or 20 pouches, depending on the product. Classic 3 mg and 6 mg cans have held 15, but Philip Morris International (PMI), which owns ZYN, is moving them to 20 in the fourth quarter of 2026, so you'll see both on shelves for a while. ZYN Ultra cans already hold 20.

How many pouches are in a ZYN can?

Classic US ZYN cans have held 15 pouches, and ZYN's own FAQ still says "every can of ZYN contains 15 nicotine pouches". That's no longer true for every product:

In the UK, ZYN sells both 20-pouch and 10-pouch cans (ZYN UK). The Motorsports Edition, a red 11 mg Cool Mint can sold in Italy, holds 21 pouches.

Is ZYN switching to 20 pouches per can?

Yes, for 3 mg and 6 mg. On September 9, 2026, PMI announced that its 3 mg and 6 mg dry pouches will move to 20 pouches per can in the fourth quarter. PMI's stated reason is that "research indicates" legal-age nicotine users prefer that size. The same announcement added 1.5 mg and 8 mg strengths.

PMI didn't say how many pouches the 1.5 mg and 8 mg cans hold, or whether the price of a can will change. ZYN no longer sells pouches on its US website and points online buyers to Nicokick and Northerner (ZYN). On both, a 15-pouch can of 6 mg ZYN cost $4.49 in October 2026, or $4.29 a can in packs of 10. Store prices vary by state and tax, and I couldn't find a price for the 20-pouch can yet.

If you keep track of your use in cans, keep in mind that a 20-pouch can holds a third more than a 15-pouch one, so "a can a day" on the new cans is 20 pouches, not 15.

How much nicotine is in a can of ZYN?

Multiply the strength per pouch by the number of pouches:

1.5 mg and 8 mg aren't included because PMI hasn't said how many pouches their cans hold.

These totals come from the strength printed per pouch. Not all of that nicotine leaves the pouch, and not all of what leaves it is absorbed. In a study funded by Swedish Match, which makes ZYN and is now owned by PMI, people kept a pouch in for 60 minutes, and about 1.6 mg of nicotine came out of a 3 mg pouch and about 3.5 mg out of a 6 mg pouch. Use the table to compare cans, not as an exact dose.

How many ZYN points per can?

In the US, each ZYN Rewards code earns 15 points, and you can enter up to 60 codes a month (ZYN, terms). That's up to 900 points a month before any bonus points, which ZYN can award at its discretion.

Only eligible cans have a code. ZYN is still rolling out cans with a QR code; on others, the code is printed under the label on the bottom of the can (ZYN). If you can't find either, the can likely isn't eligible; ZYN's customer care can confirm. ZYN hasn't said whether the new 20-pouch cans will earn more than 15 points.

Under the Rewards terms, last updated September 24, 2026, points expire after 60 days without a new code, and ZYN emails you before that happens. The program is open to adults 21 and over living in the US.

The UK runs a separate program: 20 points per eligible can, with 10-pouch cans, ZYN Melts and a few flavors excluded, and points that expire after two years. Both programs change their rules from time to time; the details here are as of October 2026.

How long does a can of ZYN last?

At 10 pouches a day, a 15-pouch can lasts a day and a half and a 20-pouch can lasts two days.

If you switch from 15-pouch to 20-pouch cans and still finish a can in the same number of days, your daily pouch count has gone up by a third. That's easy to miss when you count cans and obvious when you count pouches.

For most people, yes: the typical pouch user takes about two days to finish a can, according to online retailer Nicokick, cited by Fortune in 2024, when US cans held 15 pouches.
